Welcome to A Queen's Abode!

Hello Queen's!! For several months I have been battling a strong desire to start this blog against the time I actually have to maintain it. I love, love, love to talk so there is sooooo much I want to say yet so little time that I have to say it. Oh, allow me to introduce myself.... my name is Dina (Lady Empress) and I am a Natural Hair Stylist, Makeup Artist & Spiritual Life Coach in the metro Atlanta area. I have a beautiful daughter, Jayda whose 9 years old keeping me very busy and I have been blessed with the most patient, humble partner, Willie, who somehow knows just how to deal with me.

I've always had my share of male friends, perhaps thats because I was the only girl in the family growing up and felt most comfortable with men or maybe we just understand one another but that "comfort" led me to Atlanta Technical College for 1 1/2 completing the Barbering program. Yes! I am a Georgia licensed barber yet life switched directions mid-course and overnight my clientele went from men to 100% women & children.... WEIRD! The sage continues though, in August 2011 I was to transfer to GA State University to major in Psychology and from there start an after-school program for at-risk boys between the ages of 12 and 18. My, my how my plans have changed lol.

Today I am happily self-employed and more submissive to the plans of my Creator who clearly knows while I know not. I am in the process of creating the first chapter of A Queen's Abode in Atlanta which will deal with self-love, building self-confidence, learning thyself and becoming Queen's within our community. The "I love my Curls" after-school program for young girls between 5-12 years old that focuses on keeping their hair natural, cultural studies, self-love and performing arts will also take flight this year, The Creator Willing.

As for this blog.... I really don't want you to "expect" any one thing. I intend to show makeup techniques, natural hairstyles, short motivational speeches & videos, articles and a host of other things. I just ask that my sister Queen's be patient and open-minded with this blog as I do not wish to put our Abode in a box. On that note, Welcome! And I really look forward to hearing your insight on issues.

Peace & Blessings Queen's,

Lady Empress
