Day #1 - Mission Accomplished!

Hey Queens! The day is coming to a close and I must say I am in a rather peaceful, soulful mood. I woke up early this morning and had a beautiful holistic reading by LaOta Rassoull from Of The Sun which I enjoyed very much and I already know this is a relationship bound to flourish.

Queen's I just wanted to touch bases, post my menu for the day & let you know I am feeling good thus far.

Breakfast:

Fruit cereal (strawberries & bananna's) covered in almond milk

Lunch:

Green Smoothie (pineapple juice, 2 cups of spinach, 4 slices of cucumbers & strawberries)

Snack:

Almond milk & strawberries milkshake

Dinner:

Green Smoothie (pineapple juice, 2 cups of spinach & bananna)

Pimento cheese sandwich on thin whole wheat bread

I'm still preparing tomorrow's menu and I can't stress the most difficult thing is "Preparation"! You have to set aside time either Saturday or Sunday to clean, chop and store your veggies & fruit for the week as its difficult to do this for each meal, each day. Also variety helps soooooo much! Some are able to do a smoothie/juice diet while some psychology need to sit down and "eat" a meal, decide which you are. Peace family & I'll see you tomorrow

Tomorrow starts "The Day"

Hey Queens.... so Monday, March 12th is upon us rather quick. I spent the day with my family shopping at the local market & we are very pleased with the deals we received today. First thing first, planning is crucial to successfully completing 30 days!

This weeks shopping list:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Mango
  • Kiwi
  • Pineapple
  • Plums
  • Cabbage
  • Frozen strawberries
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Sea Salt
  • Herbal green tea
  • Apples
  • Squash
  • Plaintan
I am still looking up recipes mostly for the next week as we're juicing 80%+ of the time this week. I love smoothie's so I'm looking forward to trying different one's and to my surprise my 9 year old, Jayda, is ready to take on the first week of avoiding meat.

My purpose again.... to see how not consuming meat makes my body, mind & spirit feel. I'm not out to lose weight, this is my way to personally inspect the benefits of  consuming meat & to see if the USDA is allowing me to be killed slowly.

Here goes Queen's, I'll be checking in tomorrow.

Peace,

Dina

Meatless for 30 days!!!

Okay ladies I am officially going in... Meatless for 30 days! Let me begin by saying I LOVE meat, I really do, however with the many injections & waste the animals are ingesting I can't help but wonder how I'm being affected through the process of consuming meat.... there is only one way to find out, right??

Starting Monday, March 12th and going through Tuesday, April 10th, I will be tracking my progress to see if any changes occur. I'm hoping for more energy, mental clarity and less sinus congestion. I do realize this will take some planning on my part as recipes are needed to reduce boredom and time set aside for meal preparation but I'm game.

Perhaps in May or June the Queen's will join the challenge??? Here goes!!

Welcome to A Queen's Abode!

Hello Queen's!! For several months I have been battling a strong desire to start this blog against the time I actually have to maintain it. I love, love, love to talk so there is sooooo much I want to say yet so little time that I have to say it. Oh, allow me to introduce myself.... my name is Dina (Lady Empress) and I am a Natural Hair Stylist, Makeup Artist & Spiritual Life Coach in the metro Atlanta area. I have a beautiful daughter, Jayda whose 9 years old keeping me very busy and I have been blessed with the most patient, humble partner, Willie, who somehow knows just how to deal with me.

I've always had my share of male friends, perhaps thats because I was the only girl in the family growing up and felt most comfortable with men or maybe we just understand one another but that "comfort" led me to Atlanta Technical College for 1 1/2 completing the Barbering program. Yes! I am a Georgia licensed barber yet life switched directions mid-course and overnight my clientele went from men to 100% women & children.... WEIRD! The sage continues though, in August 2011 I was to transfer to GA State University to major in Psychology and from there start an after-school program for at-risk boys between the ages of 12 and 18. My, my how my plans have changed lol.

Today I am happily self-employed and more submissive to the plans of my Creator who clearly knows while I know not. I am in the process of creating the first chapter of A Queen's Abode in Atlanta which will deal with self-love, building self-confidence, learning thyself and becoming Queen's within our community. The "I love my Curls" after-school program for young girls between 5-12 years old that focuses on keeping their hair natural, cultural studies, self-love and performing arts will also take flight this year, The Creator Willing.

As for this blog.... I really don't want you to "expect" any one thing. I intend to show makeup techniques, natural hairstyles, short motivational speeches & videos, articles and a host of other things. I just ask that my sister Queen's be patient and open-minded with this blog as I do not wish to put our Abode in a box. On that note, Welcome! And I really look forward to hearing your insight on issues.

Peace & Blessings Queen's,

Lady Empress
